In 2003, Dave Miller's wife, Paula, told him that he couldn't spend any more money on telescopes,
mounts, and accessories until he could find a way to make money from his astronomy hobby.
In November of 2005, Durango Skies Telescope and Binocular was launched in Durango, Colorado.
Why Durango, Colorado? Because, nestled in the San Juan Mountains at 6,512 feet, it is blessed
with incredible dark skies. It's also a great place to live, work and play. Durango was once a
Wild West mining town and is now a popular tourist destination for skiing, mountain biking,
river rafting, kayaking and the historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Mesa Verde
National Park is located just 36 miles to the west.
An avid telescope shopper for many years, Dave was always frustrated by the limited knowledge
at most telescope stores on the components needed for a complete system. How can you piggyback
a refractor on your existing SCT if you don't know what adapter plates are needed? So at
Durango Skies we have extensive knowledge of telescopes, mounts, adapters and observatories for your
complete system.

DURANGO SKIES SERVICES
Observatory Setup and Installation
As a quality builder of roll-off observatories, we can also provide
complete installation services. Choose from several standard sizes or request a custom design
that fits your stargazing style and site specifications.
We are also and authorized dealer for Technical Innovations, which manufacturers HomeDome and ProDome
fiberglass dome observatories, and Pier-Tech, which manufacturers metal domes in sizes up to 30'.
We can guide you on which dome size fits your needs and provide complete
assembly and onsite installation.
Stargazing and Solar Viewing Programs
We enjoy volunteering our time to assist local elementary schools, community colleges, and
nonprofit clubs and organizations. It's always a delight to give someone who's never looked
through a telescope their first view of Saturn's rings.
