Up to 37 kilowatt hours of electrical generation per month and 400 amp hours of battery power. System includes:
- Two (2) 135 watt solar panels
- Solar panel combiner box with breakers
- Roof/ground mount system
- 15 amp charge controller
- Three (3) position DC load panel with breakers
- Four (4) 200 aH 6v gel cell batteries
There are many parts of a complete observatory solar system, but the five main components
are solar panels, charge controller, batteries, DC load panel and AC inverter. The solar panels generate the DC power for the
system. They are typically mounted to the roof or a pole system and are wired through a charge controller to the batteries. The
charge controller prevents the batteries from being overcharged and eliminates any reverse current flow to the solar panels.
The batteries store the electricity produced by the solar array during the day for use at anytime of the day or night. Power
from the batteries is routed through the DC load panel which contains DC circuit breakers to the different segments of the
observatory electrical system.
